Ryan had to go to Johnston City for work on Thursday. Luckily, he had the great idea of Gavin and me coming along and traveling up to Abingdon, VA to do the
Virginia Creeper bike trail Friday morning! So we stayed in a Bed & Breakfast Thursday night. Gavin was the youngest guest they've ever had! Here we are in our room before leaving for the bike shuttle. If you only have 1 car, you can pay to ride a shuttle up to the top of Whitetop and it's 17 miles coasting ALL DOWNHILL!!

That's right, 17 miles with Gavin in tow behind! This is one of those bike tagalong things that's meant for older kiddos. With blankets padded all around him, we were able to buckle his carseat in!

This video shows him from all angles. I told Ryan that we're going to look back on this one day and be shocked we took him on this at only 6 1/2 weeks old!
Ready to hit the trail!

We took this one especially for the grandmothers to see how safe Ryan was being with their brand new grandson. :)

Not even 2 months old and Gavin has already been on the Appalachian Trail (the sign is in the background)!

The AT crossed the bike path a ton of times. We saw hikers, too. I don't think we're quite up to hiking the AT with the little guy yet. :)

This picture doesn't really show you, but my hands got so sunburned from riding in and out of the sun all day!

Here's the best part...
Gavin LOVED being dirty!

Even though he was facing backwards, he somehow got dirt/mud from Ryan's bike tires ALL OVER HIM!

He is already an outdoorsy boy like his Dad.

The dirtier the better!

It took us about 4 hours or so start to finish with a stop for lunch on the trail. Gavin did AWESOME and was wide awake for most of it! He was laughing and smiling like he was born to do it! :)

love the smiles!!!!
Laugh out loud funny! I am sitting here just smiling looking at your precious boy!
How sweet :)! It looks like he was having a BLAST!
Ahh!! Those grins are hilarious and so stinking cute!! He is cracking me up! Also...you and Ryan both turned into country folk when you moved to Knoxville. Your accents are definitely shining through! Hehehe!
I am LOVING it! That is too funny. He is going to be little nature mand for sure! :-) The dirt on his huge smiling face is the best part! :-)
He looks like he's enjoying himself in the mud! By the way, have you tried commenting on my blog lately? I did a test run after you said it wasn't working, but I wanted to be sure by using an outside source.
