So I am most certainly not a professional photographer, but while I was borrowing Elizabeth's camera, I attempted a newborn photo shoot with my little girl when she was a week old. I tried to make it look like Gavin's when he was a week old. I think there's a few pictures where they look a lot alike!
She has a stork bite on her right eye which I think will go away. If not, at least she's a girl and she can cover it up with makeup! :)

When Henley was just 4 days old, we had 1 day between when my mom left, Ryan's mom was coming to stay for a few days, and it was Ryan's last day of his "maternity leave." :) It was a GORGEOUS Fall day, so we packed a picnic and headed up to Cade's Cove!
It was really nice that 90% of the time we were driving, so the kids were able to nap in the car. With a newborn, we had to stop several times to feed her and change her diaper. So thankful for our van in times like this! I think Henley enjoyed herself. I borrowed my friend Elizabeth's awesome camera (thank you!!) to get some better pictures than my point-and-shoot Canon camera.

Where did these blonde curls come from?? We got out one time to walk around at the Mill, but a lot of people started walking around too so I quickly got back in the van with little Henley!
5 years ago, Ryan and I were biking the loop and stopped to take this picture: So the whole point of us going was to get this picture again with our growing family. Here's what the barn looks like now: Yup, recently torn down. I was quite disgusted. So we kept driving and took a family shot with the mountains in the background:

Gavin has adjusted sooo well to having a little sister. He wakes up in the morning asking about the "baby" and runs into our room, jumps on a stool, and checks on her. He wants to pat her whenever he sees her. He's really extremely good about being gentle without me even having to show him. He brings her his toys (and food, oh no) to play with. It's really sweet. He seems to genuinely love her. He's learned to give her kisses and wants to ALL the time: He is really curious about this new little girl. 19 months was very scary to me with how close they would be. But it's been perfect! He's old enough to know she's little and that he needs to be careful with her, but he's not old enough to have jealousy toward her. I'm so proud of him for how well he's done with this transition!! We've been a little lax with our "no blanket outside of bed" rule since Henley came along: And he's gotten extra attention from all of us to help with the transition, too. His favorite person in the world: Gram (look how Gavin sat down just like her!) Nani (coloring is now one of his favorite things to do because Nani made it so fun!) And me when I can. He's been snuggling with us before bed while we find a fun show to watch. Lately it's been Monster Trucks! Gavin is all boy, I love it. And Gavin and Dakota have become the best of friends now that they're not getting all the attention:
Gavin has also learned to play by himself a lot, too, which is suuuuper helpful:
He's really gotten into "helping" us with the laundry Especially Henley's itty bitty clothes. Can you see the joy on this little boy's face over laundry??? Trying on Gram's socks: He's started enjoying all the baby things again! I can't believe he didn't break the swing:
And this is probably my favorite video of Gavin of all time. Ryan has been taking him outside when he works outside or in his shed to help me out. Luckily Henley was sleeping so I got to capture this boy on video jammin' out to some country music on his favorite thing in the world: The John Deere Mower
I want to say a HUGE "THANK YOU!!" to my mom and Ryan's mom for helping out so much after Henley was born. I don't think Gavin would have made such a great transition with having a little sister if you guys hadn't been here to give him extra attention when he needed it. I am so grateful for both of you!!!
